Meet Captain Adam Homan
Meet Captain Adam Homan and Playin' Hooky Charters
Captain Adam Homan's journey in fishing is a testament to dedication and lifelong learning, a path that began amidst the lakes and rivers of northeast Indiana where he and his brothers hunted and fished for sustenance on their family's homestead farm. From those early days, Adam's affinity for fishing grew into a passion that he carried with him to Florida in 1999, alongside his twin brother, Aaron. In St. Petersburg, Adam quickly aligned his priorities, investing in a boat before settling into a permanent home, driven by his deep-rooted love for angling.
His transition to saltwater fishing marked a new chapter in Adam's pursuit of expertise. He immersed himself in understanding the behaviors and habitats of Gulf fish, mastering techniques tailored to the challenging waters of Tampa Bay. Weekends became dedicated to refining his skills, often spent entirely on the water, solidifying his reputation as a seasoned angler and captain. While Adam focuses on running Playin Hooky Fishing Charters, his true passion lies in sharing the thrill of reeling in that first saltwater catch with anglers of all ages.
In 2012, Adam formalized his passion into a profession, earning his U.S. Coast Guard Captain's license after completing rigorous training at a sanctioned Nautical School. His commitment to safety and service extends beyond licensing, encompassing certifications in CPR, towing, and federal reef permits essential for offshore charters. Adam's goal remains steadfast: to provide an exceptional fishing experience in St. Petersburg that is both affordable and unforgettable. For him, success is measured not only by the fish caught but by the smiles and memories shared among those who embark on his charters, fostering a sense of camaraderie that extends beyond the waters of Tampa Bay.
